The first story is First Things First by Susanne Dietze. This story grabbed my attention from the very start. Georgie Bridge loved Ward Harper. He left for five years and she she thought she would never see him again. Then life throws a curve. Ward returns to town as a lawyer opposing her father. Would they get together. You will have to read the book to find out. I loved everything thing about this story. The second is a Most Reluctant Bride by Cynthia Hickey. This was another great story that had me from the beginning. Maggie and Zach Colton marry to protect her reputation and each thought it was just a marriage of convenience, but could there be true love for both. I fell in love with these characters.
The third is Weeping Willow by Marcia Gruver. This story takes place during the Civil War, This was a good story as well. It was well written.
The fourth is His Anchor by Carrie Fancett Pagels. This was another story that had my attention from the very start. This one takes place on Mackinac Island, Michigan in 1894. I loved these characters. This story also takes place around the time of another book by Carrie Pagels. My Heart Belongs on Mackinac Island. The two stories work great side by side. I loved this one so much. I knew the writing would be great. The characters are well developed.
The fifth is After the Ball by Martha Rogers. It was a fun story. Based on a young man deciding if he wanted to be a wealthy oil man or a rancher. I fell in love with these characters.
The sixth is Lighter Than Air by Lorna Seilstad. This one has to do do with a hot air balloon and a boarding school. It is well written
The seventh is In Due Season by Connie Stevens. A great story of forgiveness.
The eighth is Heartfelt Echoes by Jennifer Uhlarik, This story takes place in Virginia City, Nevada. It is also a wonderful story.
The last is Prescription for Love by Erica Vetsch. Another great story. This one about a doctor and nurse getting a second chance at Love.

I love the overall theme of this collection-First Loves. I just read "Weeping Willow" in First Love Forever Romance Collection by Marcia Gruver.. Such a good story! I loved it! Everything about it so appealed to me. Very enjoyable time reading it. I am looking forward to reading all of the stories in the book.
This is the perfect collection of novellas to read at the close of the day. Each story was captivating in different ways. I especially liked that some of the stories were extensions of previous works that I have read or an introduction to an authors work. I encourage anyone that likes sweet but meaningful fiction to read this book. I think you will enjoy it as much as I did.
This is a wonderful collection! Set in the years from 1858 to 1905, couples are reunited as they try to navigate through all the hurts, misunderstandings, and circumstances that separated them in the first place. They seek God’s guidance to sort out their feelings. My favorites were “Heartfelt Echoes” and “Lighter than Air”. Here are my brief summaries
1) “First Things First”- Susanne Dietz
Georgie is none to happy when her first love, attorney Ward Harper, returns to town. Ward’s alcoholic father made him feel ashamed. Can he reclaim Georgie’s heart and prove he’s worthy in her eyes and to himself? Mystery and romance, what more can you ask for?
2) “A Most Reluctant Bride”- Cynthia Hickey
This author usually writes about spunky and independent gals, but in this one Maggie is portrayed as a little spoiled. Zach was her childhood crush, but she marries him to save the ranch. The Ozarks is the setting.
3) “Weeping Willow”- Marcia Gruver
Willow, daughter of rich plantation owner, is very naive about slavery. Her childhood crush Julian graduates from West Point and is immediately separated from her by the Civil War. This story is rich with Civil War history and consequences of slavery. Very well- written!
4) “His Anchor”- Carrie Fancett Pagels
I had difficulties following this story, because it is a spin-off of her earlier work “My Heart Belongs on Mackinac Island”. There was little background of the characters. I felt like I walked in in the middle of a play. Sadie is much younger than Robert, a ship’s captain, which causes him to hesitate about courting her.
5) “After the Ball”- Martha Rogers
Chase is the son of a wealthy oilman, but his heart is in ranching and Susannah who is the foreman’s daughter. The story was okay, because I thought both seem timid and immature (especially Susannah). Their personalities were tepid.
6) “Lighter than Air”- Lorna Seilstad
This story was fun to read! As the principal of a girl’s school, Ella has many responsibilities. When Professor Titus Knott, her first love, crashes in his hot air balloon on the school grounds, her world is made off-kilter. There was a lot of humor and the romance is cute.
7) “In Due Season”- Connie Stevens
I always enjoy this author’s stories. I rarely cry while reading a story, but this one was quite emotional. Leah was left at the altar 15 years ago by Gareth for inexplicable reason. He never came back. She trys to accept the life God gave her, but the town gossips are cruel to her. The story is about forgiveness and trust. Exceptionally well-written.
8) “ Heartfelt Echoes”- Jennifer Uhlarik
This is a spin-off from her novella in the “Courageous Brides Collection “. In that story, Travis is the deaf orphan transported by Hannah to San Francisco to attend a deaf school. He is now all grown, and seeks to save his first love Millie from a cruel stepfather. If you have time, you should also read “Mountain Echoes” in the aforementioned collection. That one was also very good.
9) “Prescription for Love”- Erica Vetsch
Natalie is a missionary nurse stuck stateside recovering from yellow fever. Years ago, Phinn, a New Orleans doctor, proposed to her but she refused. Excellent story, but if you don’t care to read about the ravages of yellow fever, you might want to skip it. This is a spin-off of a previous story “Light in My Path”. Phinn was one of the orphans. If you have time, you should read that one. Both are excellent!
I liked this collection, because there’s spin-offs Of other stories. I always wonder what happened to those characters. I wouldn’t mind if this is a trend with authors.
